UK Student Visa Requirements

Everything you need to know about the UK student visa process
Confirmation of Acceptance for Studies (CAS)
A unique reference number issued by your UK university after you’ve accepted an unconditional admission offer. Required for making your visa application.
Proof of Financial Means
Evidence that you can cover tuition fees and living expenses. Funds must be held for at least 28 days and can include savings, education loans, or fixed deposits. Required amounts are £1,334/month for London or £1,023/month for other regions, shown for up to 9 months.
English Language Proficiency
Proof of English ability through tests like IELTS, TOEFL, or PTE Academic. Minimum required score is typically IELTS 5.5 overall with 5.5 in each band. Waivers may be possible if you scored above 65–70% in 12th standard English.
Valid Passport
A current passport or travel document that is valid for the entire period of your study in the UK.
Tuberculosis Test Certificate
Students from countries where TB is a concern must provide a test certificate if studying in the UK for more than 6 months. The test must be from an approved panel physician.
Immigration Health Surcharge
Payment to access the UK’s National Health Service (NHS), typically £470 per year. Must be paid in full when you apply for the visa.
